Aquamation is known scientifically as alkaline hydrolysis. It is an environmentally friendly, water-based method to return your deceased pet to the earth. You can think of it as your pet's last bath. Warm water and alkali swirls around their body, and the next day, all that remains are their bones. The bones are then dried overnight and turned to powder to be returned to you. It is a beautiful, quiet, warm process that cradles your pet into the afterlife. Since none of the pet is burned away as it is in cremation, you will actually receive a larger amount of your pet's remains after aquamation, and the remains generally look like soft, fluffy, light-colored powder.
