Dr. Swenson earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2007 and has cared for Tucson pets ever since, across both emergency and general practice. A passionate advocate for independently owned clinics, she believes locally owned practices give pets and families a more personal touch and a higher level of care. Outside the clinic she loves hiking Arizona's trails, playing rec-league soccer, and being home with her husband, daughter and their lively houseful of pets. She's also proud to give back through World Vets and Heifer International.
Being a vet was the only thing Dr. Carpenter ever wanted to be. Born and raised in the Tucson desert, she's a University of Arizona grad (Bear Down!) who earned her veterinary degree from Washington State in 2010 (Go Cougs!) and came right home to practice small-animal medicine. After 15+ years in practice she also founded Paws in the Sunset in-home pet euthanasia, so families can say goodbye in the place their pet knows best. Off the clock she's a devoted "taxi-mom" to her two daughters, a serious craft-lover (ask about her earrings), and always up for a family trip.
Board-certified in internal medicine (DACVIM), Dr. Szivek brings specialist-level expertise to our patients as a relief veterinarian. Full bio coming soon.
Carina brings over 12 years in veterinary medicine to Oracle 77, from general practice and ICU/emergency to exotics, surgery and management. She became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2015 and is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration. At home she's happiest outdoors, camping or in a cozy cabin, with her husband, family and two pets, a Shih Tzu and a soft-coated retriever mix.
Shelbi brings more than 14 years of experience and a lifelong love of animals (it started at age 3) to our front desk. She sets the tone the moment you walk in, anticipating needs and communicating with warmth and clarity so every client and patient feels cared for from start to finish. She's also a passionate advocate for Childhood Cancer Awareness.
Alex is a veterinary assistant working toward his Veterinary Technician certification at Pima Community College. Calm and confident in a fast-paced clinic, he's skilled in patient handling, monitoring and supporting procedures, and is always growing his knowledge. Outside work he plays guitar, games and watches anime, and shares his home with Shio, his nearly four-year-old shorthair cat.
Karen is a dedicated veterinary technician with a lifelong passion for animals and a strong commitment to compassionate, high-quality care for every patient she meets. Originally from Yuma, Arizona, she has worked in veterinary medicine since 2020 across several practices, giving her a well-rounded background in patient care. She attended the University of Arizona from 2019–2023 on a full-tuition scholarship, studying Animal Science, and is now applying to veterinary school with the goal of becoming a veterinarian. Her passion was first inspired by her cat Gilbert, whom she's had since middle school. She's also the proud pet parent of her cat Clementine and her rabbit Honey Bun. Outside of work, Karen loves staying active and soaking up the Arizona sunshine, running, hiking, and swimming whenever she can.

Jovani was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, where her lifelong love for animals first began. From a young age, she felt deeply committed to supporting their health, happiness, and overall well-being. She's excited to keep growing in her veterinary career, expanding her knowledge, and learning alongside such a wonderful team. When she's not caring for patients at the clinic, Jovani loves being home with her own beloved furbabies, her little family includes Mochi, Mizu, Kaiju, Soju, and her newest addition, Yuki.
